A330-200F receives EASA Type Certification

Airbus reports that its A330-200 Freighter has received Type Certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) after a 200 hour test programme by two production aircraft.

A derivative of the A330-200 passenger model, certification has been granted through an amendment to the existing A330-200 EASA Type Certificate awarded in 1998. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Type Certification is expected shortly.

Christian Favre, A330/340 Chief Engineer, said: “After a very smooth and successful flight test campaign we have reached certification in line with our planning. Moreover, thanks to some design optimisation, the aircraft’s payload capability of 70 tonnes is one tonne more than first expected.”

Airbus has 66 firm orders for the A330-200F, leasing company Intrepid Aviation having ordered the most so far with 20 aircraft.
